|This photo, from the files of Marion Mann, shows the interior of the Ocala Bakery at Christmas time
in the mid-1950s. The Ocala Bakery was located at 108 S. Magnolia St. on the south side of the
Anti-Monopoly Drug Store.
The ladies behind the counter were not identified on the photo. There is a classified
advertisement in the 1950 Florida Telephone Directory that lists Louise J. Crawford as the Mgr.
An article about the Ocala Bakery, written by Frances Sheppard Star Banner – Staff Writer,
appeared in the March 29, 1957 edition of the Ocala Star Banner. Frances writes that the Ocala
Bakery “...has been operated by the Fishers for the past seven years.” The Fishers that Frances
refers to were the owners - Leroy and Minnie Fisher who came to Ocala from out of state.
